Thanks to our generous PTA, Greystone will soon have a beautiful tile mosaic permanent installation! Starting in November, we began working with paper mosaics to get ready for the permanent installation project using cermaic tile. We are about midway through this project and it’s looking great so far! Every student is participating and we’ve had a ton of parent volunteers and faculty members jump in to help out! It has truly become a community project.

I want to take a moment here to thank all of the tiles that have been donated for this project from various businesses and individuals… a complete listing of what you have done for us will come at the completion of this huge endeavor. I also want to say a huge thanks to the many parents who made the phone calls to the businesses, picked the tiles up, brought them to the school, unpacked them, and helped break them all up to have them ready for the kids. This, my friends, is an invaluable contribution to the project and there is no way I could have done this on my own. Many parents have also shown their support by helping the kids during class (you can’t possibly know how much this helps unless you are actually in the room!!), finishing up the works with nipping the tiny tiles for the small open spaces, breaking tiles with a hammer, sorting tiles, etc.

If you are a Greystone parent or friend of Greystone, we still welcome you to come and join us any time – there is so much to do still and will be until about mid February. Come any time, any day and stay as long as you’d like! I’d be glad to have you in the classroom or right next door working with the completed projects and/or breaking and sorting tile.

Thank you for everything,
Ms. Horn
